Sister Richards joined us in October 2015 as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She is  able to see adults with any of the following minor illnesses. Because she is an advanced nurse practitioner, she will be able to issue a prescription if needed once she has seen you.

Respiratory tract infections.


Sore Throat.


Rhinitis.


Sinusitis.


Cough.


COPD and Asthma exacerbations.


Urine Infections.


Earache.


Blocked ears.


Discharging ears.


Vaginal discharge/Thrush.


Constipation.


Diarrhoea.


Haemorrhoids.


Indigestion & Heartburn.


Skin conditions: cellulitis, rash, bites, stings, eczema, psoriasis.


Minor Sprains.


Bach ache, if within the last 2 weeks.


Dry eye/conjunctivitis.

  • Assessment and treatment/dressings of minor injuries and removal of sutures
  • Asthma – inhaler techniques and annual reviews
  • CHD – assist the doctor with advice and annual reviews
  • Contraception – Discuss all methods, including emergency contraception in complete confidence
  • Cervical smears, well woman screening, hormone replacement monitoring (HRT)
  • Diabetes – Assist the doctor with advice and annual reviews
  • Immunisation – For babies, children and adults travelling to other Countries. For travel advice and inoculations, please make an appointment as soon as possible
  • Regular monitoring of blood pressure
  • Health promotion –lifestyle advice, dietary advice and weight monitoring
  • Other services available are: ear syringing, E.C.G and lung function tests (GPs request)
  • Smoking Cessation – if you are determined to quit smoking our nurses can offer advice and encouragement.
  • Lung function testing using spirometry.

Healthcare Assistants

 

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
