Urgent Appointments

To request an urgent appointment (Monday to Friday)

  • Phone us – Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm 01983 562955.
  • Visit the surgery – Speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.

When you contact us, we’ll ask what you need help with so we can direct your inquiry to the right health professional.

Routine appointments

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • By phone, or
  • Face to face at the surgery

If you need help when we are closed

  • If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
  • NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
  • Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Think Pharmacy First

Most pharmacies can provide prescription medication for certain conditions without the need to see a GP or make an appointment. This service, known as Pharmacy First.

Pharmacy First means you can go straight to the pharmacist for treatment of some minor health issues, without needing a GP prescription first. If you are exempt from prescription charges, the medication will be free. If you pay for your prescription, you will pay the regular cost of the medicine. To use this service, you must be a registered patient at one of the surgeries on the Isle of Wight. Please note most pharmacies have a private consultation room.

Appointments by phone, video call, or through text or email can be more flexible and often allow you to get help sooner.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
  • using the GP online system – SystmOnline
  • phone us on 01983 562955, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
  • reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate While we encourage patients to come to the surgery, where we have the right equipment and facilities, we understand this isn’t always possible. If you need a home visit, please call reception before 10:30 AM.

Home visits can only be requested if you are housebound or too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will decide if a home visit is necessary based on your medical condition and how urgently it needs to be addressed. Please be ready to provide details to help the doctor schedule the visit.

You can also receive home visits from a community nurse if referred by your GP. Additionally, health visitors will visit you at home if you’ve recently had a baby or if you’re a new patient with a child under five.
